University College Falmouth and the University of Exeter are investing in the further development of Glasney Village, their complex of student residences at the Tremough Campus in Penryn.
Midas Construction has been awarded the contract to build five additional blocks of accommodation comprising 224 rooms in total, and enabling works have now commenced.
Having built all the existing student residences on site, Midas has a great deal of experience of minimising the impact of their works on campus.
This project represents a further investment of £8M in campus facilities, and further demonstrates the commitment of the Tremough Campus Services Group to deliver quality facilities to enhance the student experience and meet the institutions’ planned growth.
These new residences will be available for occupation by the beginning of the 2012 academic year.
They form part of the institutions’ strategy to ensure that there is sufficient high quality accommodation for students in the locality, in line with this planned growth.
As with all the other investment projects that are currently taking place at the Tremough Campus, we will work closely with the lead developer to ensure that you are kept up-to-date with activity and know who to contact if you have any queries or concerns about the works and their impact on you.
You may have noticed that the car park nearest to the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) has been adapted into a works compound for Midas with the loss of some car parking spaces. However, further parking is available in the temporary car park at the top end of the campus.
Disruption Notices relating to these works will be published in the usual way by Ian Rogers, who will be managing this project.
